Times are changing…

Did you know, for students starting high school now, the job they have when they leave school, might not even exist yet?!

Why is this important to consider?

Our next generation will be doing ‘life’ and work very differently to past generations, which means employer expectations are evolving and there is a vast array of ‘unknowns’ in the realm of what the future holds for our youth.

As a result, now more than ever before, transferrable skills and interpersonal communication are crucial skills required to adapt effectively to the changing nature of work, across all pathways.

Our immersion in a new digital culture and the rise of technology, has contributed to a major gap in the skill sets of school leavers today: the basic, foundational life skills (‘adulting’) required to thrive in the real world beyond school.

Don’t let your students learn the hard way. Our workshops have helped so many students to date and we support schools in tailoring workshop content to suit the needs and requirements of their specific cohorts.

Life After School workshops exist to compliment your existing Career Education program and/or personal development lessons embedded in your timetable and curriculum.

Testimonials

  • We had Life After School run their resume workshops for our graduating Year 12 Diploma of Business students. These workshops were a great success with each student completing a quality resume. Ashlee was accommodating and flexible in the delivery of her program and even tailored her templates to highlight the knowledge and skills that the students gained through studying their Diploma. Ashlee was approachable and engaging and the students responded positively to her teaching style. I would highly recommend Life After School for any school looking for quality and relatable workshops for their students.

  • The topic was resumes and the students thought that they were 'all over them' and that nobody could teach them anything new. Well, they were wrong! Ashlee came into our Diploma of Business class as a guest speaker on the topic of job seeking and completing an effective resume. Ashlee explained her experience in completing resumes for job hunters and that everyone had something unique to offer, as well as how to word a resume to sell yourself. There were many ideas about what to include in your resume as well as how to explain your worth. Ashlee was welcomed into the class and had an instant rapport with the students. She was very friendly and honest in sharing her own story and other stories of success and mistakes when completing resumes. Ashlee helped the students in class and stayed back afterwards to support the students with their ideas. Ashlee was very easy to work with and professional and knowledgeable in her topic. I found her very approachable and supportive of the students and would be happy to teach with her every day.

  • I would definitely recommend the resume workshop to senior students as it taught me a lot of new things and gave me the foundation that I needed to create the perfect resume to my liking. Even if many of the things taught may seem like common sense, the workshop helps refresh that knowledge as you don’t really think about many of those factors often in day-to-day life. My favourite thing about the workshop was the resume template (and the lollies) as it provided me with a basic foundation which I could expand or tweak however I liked. I was able to land my first two jobs using the template, when before I didn’t really have any luck with my own. Ultimately, even if you may not use the template, I would still recommend having a copy of it, as it provides you with a lot of key headings and information you can add into your own personal resume. Additionally, Ashlee is very charismatic in her teaching and it definitely keeps things interesting and easy to listen to! It definitely helps having someone with years of experience teach you and provide helpful information and tips to get you started!

  • Professional, courteous and outstanding workshops are just a few of the reasons that I recommend Life After School to other schools and colleagues. What separates Life After School from most of the others, is Ashlee's tenacious attention to detail in delivering a workshop the right way, and to a teenage audience. Ashlee takes a job from start to finish and I can always count on her delivering the most up to date content to our students. I have the highest regard for Life After School and I will continue to use them at my school.
